Attorney Faith Herndon Attorney Faith Herndon grew up in Durham on a family farm. She attended Yale University, receiving her B.A. in 1981 and her M.A. in 1984. In 1988 Faith received her J.D. from New York University Law School, where she was an Arthur Garfield Hayes Fellow and Articles Editor of the New York University Review of Law & Social Change.

After receiving her law degree, Faith worked for a labor and civil rights law firm in Bombay, India from 1989 to 1990, where she specialized in issues relating to women’s rights and provided legal support to a challenge in the Supreme Court of India to the constitutionality of the Government of India’s settlement of claims against Union Carbide arising from the Bhopal disaster. She then held a clerkship with Hon. Judge James B. McMillan in the Federal District Court in Charlotte, North Carolina. She returned to Durham in 1991 and has specialized in the areas of workers compensation, employment and disability law. She has practiced in the past with Patterson Harkavy & Lawrence (now Patterson Harkavy LLP) and the Law Office of Robin Hudson. Faith established her current practice in Durham in 1998.

Faith has been awarded an AV Peer Review Rating by Martindale Hubbell’s national attorney rating process (signifying a rating by other attorneys “at the highest level of professional excellence”) and has been named to North Carolina Business Magazine’s top attorneys in the state.

Faith has served as chair of the Employment Law Section of the North Carolina Academy of Trial Lawyers and as a member of the Executive Committee of the Workers Compensation Section of the North Carolina Academy of Trial Lawyers. She is an active member of the North Carolina Bar Association and the National Employment Lawyers Association. She is a frequent speaker at legal seminars on employment and workers compensation issues. Outside of her practice, Faith enjoys raising her two children, gardening, playing piano, hiking, and traveling.
